Hands down, make-up is my favourite service that I offer!! Having a career where an aspect of your job is make-up shopping…#livingthedream
But not everyone feels the same way about make-up, many people shy away from it. Make-up can change your appearance, or enhance your natural beauty, the choice is yours! That’s what your bridal make-up trial is for.
We start the trial by discussing what you would usually wear every day for make-up, and how you would ‘glam it up’ for a night out or special occasion. It also helps to see pictures of how you usually wear your make-up, and styles of make-up you like.
Obviously the colour scheme to your wedding day is very important; you need colours that complement one another. One of my very early brides always wore purple eyeshadow, and was insisting on the same shade for her wedding day…with the bridesmaids in red and roses to match in her bouquet it wasn’t advisable, so we found a happy middle ground! A smoky green eyeshadow to enhance her hazel eyes meant she was not clashing with her colour scheme.
We evaluate your skin type and discuss which products would suit you best for a long lasting flawless finish. From high definition Airbrush foundation, to a full cover matt or dewy finish, or a light sheer foundation to even skin tone, your comfort is essential. Some ladies are used to wearing a heavy foundation; others hate the feeling of product on their skin. At the trial you may choose to try a product you are not used to using, if you decide by the wedding day that you want to change that, it’s absolutely fine. I would rather you try and decide against it, then try on your wedding day and feel uncomfortable.
In my opinion eyes should always be captivating (especially as that is where your husband-to-be will be looking when he vows to spend the rest of his life loving you), whether the natural, glamorous or smoky look, your eyes should be your main focus! With all my make-up application, I like to start off light so that we can build on the look together. With lashes and eyeliners a plenty; together we create eyes to memorise!
Finishing the look with a glow in the cheeks and the perfect pout, you will be shown the ‘draft’ of your bridal makeup. Then with the mirror in your hand, we evaluate each step and make any necessary changes. You want to see the best possible polished version of yourself in the mirror looking back at you…not a complete stranger!
Once the look is complete we have a chat about changes you might like to make to strengthen the look before your evening guests arrive (I will be soon offering a service to my brides where I return to alter the make-up for the evening, this seems to be increasingly popular with bridal make-up nowadays). Also one of the key aspects is how to look after your skin leading up to your wedding day, to ensure it is in tip top condition. From recommending products, to facials, to ‘what not to do’ in the final days before you say ‘I Do!’
What we create at your trial is not set in stone, changes can be made. I always colour match you on the wedding day under natural light and check everything with you before we get started. The majority of the time the bride decides she was a smokier eye, or a lighter or heavier lash, or a little more blush, this is completely normal, it’s why you have a trial, so that on the wedding day you can be rest assured you are picture perfect!
