What happens at a Bridal hair trial??

Posted on 20 February, 2019 at 4:45

I love a bridal trial, a bit of girly time chatting about all things beautiful and sparkly, from wedding venues and dresses, to hair care and latest make-up trends. Let face is, we all love a good gossip!! Especially while creating that dream look for you, so that you feel and look absolutely stunning as you walk down the aisle!

So what should you expect from your bridal trial? All stylists have their own ways, but the goal is still the same, to make sure every aspect; hair, flowers, dress, make-up etc, complements each other beautifully! So let me enlighten you as to what to expect from a hair trial with me…

Within my family home I have a studio dedicated to my brides! With products, veils and hair accessories galore, so that we can get the most out of your session! For a brides hair and make-up trial I usually allow around 3 hours. While it isn’t necessary for everyone in the bridal party to have a trial I am more than happy to accommodate when needed.

Before a trial I do ask my ladies to have some visual aids available for styles they like. I am more than happy for these to be emailed or pinged over via whatsapp or messenger, or bought on the day. We start my having a chat about the look you have been dreaming of!

For hair trials it always helps to see a picture of your dress. Is there any detail at the back that having hair down would hide? Is there a high neck on the dress that would interfere with an up-do if it was on the nape of the neck? If you are having a side style does your dress have straps with details on? These are just a few simple questions that can affect the hair style you choose, or mean that a few minimal changes are needed to make everything perfect for you!

If you have chosen your hair accessories I do ask they be bought to the trial so that we can be sure we can style around them. Many brides are unsure of the style or accessories they want, this isn’t a problem at all. Once we have a style agreed I can then add various accessories for you so you can see what works and feels comfortable to you. In a few cases I have even designed accessories exclusively for my bride!

During the trial I am assessing your hair for thickness, texture, how well it holds curls or height, so that if there are any issues I can have them worked through ready for your wedding day. We can also see if any padding is needed to style the hair, or extensions if you wish to purchase them and have them incorporated into the look. If there are any changes you want to make, never be afraid to ask, it’s your special day and you need to feel comfortable and sure with your choices!

We also discuss hair care leading up to your wedding day; when to book in your final trim, colour or highlights with your regular hair dresser, products to help repair any damage, and what you should do in the final days so that on the morning of your wedding day we are good to go!
